It grew from desert land into a residential and resort community starting in the 1970s and 80s, anchored by the Gold Canyon Golf Resort and its Dinosaur Mountain course. The Peralta Trail, which climbs to Fremont Saddle and a view of Weaver’s Needle, starts just up the road, and Pinal County’s Peralta Regional Park is close by.
