The cotton operation drilled wells, dug canals and built housing for its workers. World War II brought the Goodyear Aircraft plant and the Litchfield Naval Air Facility, which is now Phoenix Goodyear Airport. The town incorporated on November 19, 1946, became a city in 1985, and most of its homes have been built since 1990. Housing market ## Goodyear homes, then and now The oldest homes in Goodyear sit near Western Avenue and Litchfield Road, where the first wartime houses went up in the 1940s. Most of the city is much newer: master- planned communities like Palm Valley and Estrella, the 55+ community PebbleCreek, and new subdivisions that are still going up.
